I love Plants Vs Zombies. Every week I spend about an hour and a half on public transport and in the absence of any reading material, PVZ is the device I use to stay interested and vaguely sane. It’s not just a game, it’s a way of speeding up time. It’s a means of transforming a horrible, horrible journey into a warm place. And it has zombies in it. What more could you want? Oh, that’s right – tat!
And to celebrate the arrival of this fantastic game on XBLA PopCap – the makers of the the gaming equivalent of high-grade crack – have sent through some tasty envelopes containing some lovely PVZ merch.
First up we have a dose of Anti-Zombie propaganda in the form of these handy stickers.
I’m not sure this item would really work as zombie repellent. Not as effective as this at any rate:
There you go! Zombie mask. Genius. You could blend in with the undead and none of them would be any the wiser. Behold the zombie who came with this package and his pitiful attempts to trick me!
Awww cute. My very own little zombie. Actually he can come in quite handy if you feel like shocking your other half or house guests. Simply place him on the other side of a closed door and watch with glee as they react in terror and surprise when they discover him.
Eeeek! Scary as all hell, right? Well, no, not really. Not as scary as the last bizarre item in this collection.
Seriously, I have been sent some strange promotional stuff for games in my time, but I’ve never been sent anything quite like this:
Yes, it’s a picture of PopCap head honcho, John Vechey, in a Bejeweled picture frame with the word “Obsessed” carved into it. And just what is this meant to imply? I realise that I have written some rather gushing sentiments about John’s games in the past, but really, this is taking things a little too far!
Still, I think I could probably make room for him on the mantle. If the wife doesn’t object, that is…
